A koncert kiváló példája annak, amikor kutatási eredmények az előadóművészetben hasznosulnak. Lakatos Ágnes 2025 januárjában részt vett a Jazz Education Network konferenciáján, ahol The Hungarian Taste of Jazz címmel tartott előadást. A kutatáshoz számos interjút készített magyar jazz-zenészekkel. Az első eredmények szerint a sajátos magyar íz magyarázata a sokszínűség lehet. Számos inspirációs forrással kell számolnunk, ilyenek a népzene, Kodály gondolatai, Bartók hatása, a régi magyar slágerek vagy a free jazz. Ezen a koncerten a magyar és az amerikai jazz szintézise hallható: népdalok és Bartók-művek feldolgozása mellett régi magyar slágerek és Oláh Kálmán szerzeményei is felcsendülnek, természetesen sok-sok improvizációba ágyazva.??

?The new project by the vocal-piano duo of Ágnes Lakatos and Kálmán Oláh, winner of the Erkel and Liszt Prizes, offers the audience a colorful palette of Hungarian and American jazz fusion on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the Liszt Hall.?

?This well-known ensemble in the Hungarian music scene seeks to answer the question of what gives the music of the genre’s domestic representatives its unique flavor. The concert is an excellent example of how research findings can be applied in the performing arts. In January 2025, Ágnes Lakatos participated in the Jazz Education Network conference, where she gave a presentation titled “The Hungarian Taste of Jazz.” For her research, she conducted numerous interviews with Hungarian jazz musicians. According to initial findings, diversity may be the explanation for this distinctive Hungarian flavor. We must consider numerous sources of inspiration, such as folk music, Kodály’s ideas, Bartók’s influence, old Hungarian hits, and free jazz. This concert features a synthesis of Hungarian and American jazz: in addition to arrangements of folk songs and Bartók’s works, old Hungarian hits and compositions by Kálmán Oláh will also be performed, naturally interwoven with plenty of improvisation.??
